A Collection of Posts from Friends

A friend posted this on my wall in facebook. After reading it, I had to comment back to her.."gotta share this" so, I'm passing it on and sharing it with you...<

A speaker started off his seminar holding up a twenty dollar bill. With an audience of about 200, he asked,"Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you, but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple up the $20 bill. He then asked, "Anyone still want this?' Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started grinding it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends," he said, " we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the Money, you still wanted it. Now why is that? Because it's still $20...after all it went through, it, even if it would have been missing a portion of it, it did not lose it's face value-...it is still worth $20. Now...check out this parallel - like that dollar, many times in our lives we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and/or the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But always remember this...like that dollar, no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will NEVER lose your value. Don't let anyone else fool you or convince you otherwise...YOU will NEVER lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased. YOU are still priceless to those who DO love you!. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by who we ARE.
You, me...each and every one of us are uniquely special - do not EVER forget that!!

Please pass this on..if you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it could touch, the hurting hearts it speaks to, the hope that it may bring or the self-worth and confidence it could restore.

Count your blessings, not your problems..."

I HAVE to share this. it was copied from a friend who posted it on my facebook wall, Please take the time to read it in it's entirety. Those that are older may tug on their memories....Those that are younger may want to reconsider before they lay blame to our throw-away society and the having to participate in "green-thing"...

Checking out at the grocery store recently, the young cashier suggested I should bring my own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. I apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days." The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations." Hmmm -- our generation didn't have the green thing in "our" day. So what did we do back then...? After some reflection and soul-searching on "our" day, here's what I remembered we did have...
Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles repeatedly. So they really were recycled. But we didn't have the green thing back in our day. We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300 horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But no, we didn't have the green thing in our day.
Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a clothes line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-downs from their brothers or sisters, not always brand new clothing... We didn't have the green thing back in our day...
Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not styrafoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn, we used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. No, we didn't have the green thing back then. We drank from a drinking fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen...and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. Nope..no green thing back then.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus, and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint. Isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then? Please re-post this on your profile so another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smarty-pants young person can add to this...
