Golden Words ~ Wisdom of the Anasazi

I always have people asking what tribe I'm from...I always answer, "Not this time. But back when Coronado and his men crossed the mountains with their big dogs and weapons of war, saying they came in peace, I was Anasazi. And I did look the same then as I do now. My father looked the same too, except he had long hair and a red bandana tied around his forehead.  Coronado's coming was the signal for the end of our people. Our way would be no more. Although warned of this many of our people still succumbed to the Spaniards promises and teachings of Christianity. The Conquistadors did "witch hunts" for those of us who would not have anything to do with them. They passed many hours on the rocks that covered our entryways to our kivas searching to destroy. Then the mountain blew. . . two times, the mud flowed over the great cities toward the sound (the canyon used to be full of water), I lived in a kiva (third level down) on the other side of the water from the big cities. (Much like living in Gig Harbor and looking at Tacoma with Mt. Rainier in the background and Puget Sound being the water). Well, I guess there was more to the prophesy than what I could recall. . .
A couple of days ago, I was browsing You Tube and came upon a clip about a prophecy from Mother Earth 2012. I didn't recall any reference before made to the year 2012. I remembered others mentioning the Aztec calendar not going past 2014 or was it 2015. Anyways, I thought I'd pass on the words of this Anasazi Prophecy. At the end of these words, I've placed the video clip I ran into.

~
The End-time Cleansing
Those connected with the sacred will rebuild the new worlds.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden under every leaf and rock. So when life fades as the setting sunset, I may come to You without shame.
The Earth is our Mother, care for her.
Honor all your Relations, Open your heart and soul to the Great Spirit.
All life is sacred, treat all beings with respect.
Take from the earth what is needed, and nothing more.
Do what you know to be right.
Give constant thanks to the Great Spirit each day.
Look after the well being of the mind and body.
Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.
Be truthful and honest at all times.
Enjoy lifes journey; but leave no tracks.

Updated  July 30, 2012:
I found out later, in 2012, thanks to Tony Gray'Owl's  Website, The Living Book of Life ,  they have a term for people like me that have lived a previous life as a Native American but are now in another ethnic physical body.  That term is a "redheart".  I guess I'm a redheart.  :)  The old prophesies spoke of a time when  we would come back to bring forth the ancient wisdoms.  We are back.

Today on my facebook page, I saw a post that stated that I could download it with a like and a comment, so I did, because it struck a chord in my heart/soul seeing the Native American on the horse (which was not here before Coronado brought them to our land.  and it reminded me that our way was not anymore.
Kinda funny, I love horses, they are such beautiful animals, yet, although I've had many opportunities in this lifetime, I've only ridden 2 short times.  Once when I was 10 years old and once when I was 22 years old.  I think I just made the connection why I don't really want to ride a horse although I've always wanted to have and ride one-mixed emotions that run many lifetimes back.
Anyways, this picture reminded me of Coronado's arrival to our people and land.  And it reminded me of   the changing of the people's way of life.  Although this is not my art, I felt it fitting that maybe you can understand the feeling, it is a beautiful picture and tugs at my redheart.

Golden Words ~ Rainbows

Rainbows

Rainbows are truly a testament of the creation of this plane we live in. As the white light meets the interference created by moisture (rain, precipation, clear crystal), it breaks down the creation of the white light. Hence, the rainbow. All that we see is the interference of this white light...thought wave is the base root that creates the interference and the refraction creates the color of that thought. Causing the illusion of the physical plane, what we see.
(below: Fire Rainbow)
Full spectrum rainbows prove the existence of white light in our presence, hence the healing effect of rainbows.

Below is a video I found on YouTube called "Rainbow Warriors" ~ freely adapted from Cree prophesy and Hopi prophesy with excerpts from "Standing Bear Speaks". The imagery moves pretty fast, so if you want to read it while it's playing, you may want to hit the pause button when a new line comes on screen, otherwise, just watch it, and below the rainbow bar, I've posted what was written in case you didn't catch it all.

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it.
"Warriors of the Rainbow"
"When the earth is dying there shall arise a new tribe of all colours and all creeds.
This tribe shall be called the Warriors of the Rainbow and it will put its faith in actions not words."
Prophecy of the Native American Hopi people.
The "Warriors of the Rainbow" would spread these messages and teach all peoples of the Earth or "Elohi".
They would teach them how to live the "Way of the Great Spirit".
The tasks of these "Warriors of the Rainbow" are many and great.
"We are a part of the earth and it is part of us" ~ Cheif Seattle
There will be terrifying mountains of ignorance to conquer and they shall find prejudice and hatred. They must be dedicated, unwavering in their strength, and strong of heart.
They will find willing hearts and minds that will follow them on this road of returning "Mother Earth" to beauty and plenty ~ once more.
"When we show our respect for other living things, they respond with respect for us."
~ Arapaho
Proverb
A new universe is now flying through the cosmos about to enter the earth's heavens.
Prophecies foretell of a people who will rise from earth's ashes like the thunderbird, symbolizing rebirth.
Together, they will be called "Rainbow Warriors" for they will gather the four sacred directions, all distinctly separate by forever connected in the Circle of Life.
They will bring together the four races of man to live in peace.
The four sacred directions and the four races of man are symbilized by the magnificence and glory of the rainbow.
The sacred Circle of Life turns slowly but inevitably back to the place where it began.
As each age passes, it cannot be reclaimed.

Now is the time we begin to prepare ourselves to become inheritors of Mother Earth.
To become Warriors of the Rainbow ~ for the sake of our children's children and all humanity.
The road of the future is not red.
It is a rainbow leading to the Creator's grace by way of prayer, good works, faith.
To be chosen to walk the path to Light is not a decision made by some religious leader, a government agency or politician.
Our very survival depends on it.
It is a personal choice made by a mind and heart made free of idols of modern materialism.
It is a decision made between you and the Creator, One with nature and all creation.
"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." ~ Albert Einstein

Golden Words ~ No Fear

I continually receive emails that have golden words of wisdom and I can't think of anything better than to share them with you so my cup doesn't get too full and block these resources from having a place to rest to continue their endless works of passing on some food for thought and hopefully wisdom to help:

Life is meant to live fully. If you clip your own wings and say "I can't", so it will be. All thoughts will become manifest. All things material begin with the thought.

Living on the Razor's Edge
(NO FEAR)

This is a case of a photographer photographing another photographer. The following pictures were taken by Hans van de Vorst from the Netherlands at the Grand Canyon, Arizona . The descriptions are his own. The identity of the photographer in the photos is unknown.

I was simply stunned seeing this guy standing on this solitary rock in the Grand Canyon . Watching this guy on his thong sandals, with a camera and a tripod I asked myself 3 questions:

1.. How did he climb that rock?

2. Why not take that sunset picture from that rock to the right, which is perfectly safe?

3. How will he get back?

After the sun set behind the canyon's horizon he packed his things (having only one hand available) and prepared himself for the jump. This took about 2 minutes. At that point he had the full attention of the crowd.

This is the point of no return. After that, he jumped on his thong sandals...The canyon's depth is 900 meters (3,000 feet) here.

Now you can see that the adjacent rock is higher so he tried to land lower, which is quite steepand tried to use his one hand to grab the rock.
We've come to the end of this story. Look carefully at the photographer. He has a camera, a tripod and also a plastic bag, all on his shoulder or in his left hand. Only his right hand is available to grab the rock and the weight of his stuff is a problem. He lands low on his flip flops, both his right hand and right foot slip away... At that moment I take this shot. He pushes his body against the rock. He waits for a few seconds, throws his stuff on the rock, climbs and walks away. Presumably to a bathroom to change his shorts. I know I had to change mine and I was just watching!

Info for Inquiries

This is the information you'll need if you want to make any inquiries.
Thank you for taking an interest.

If you have any inquiries. please send me an email to shirley_is@rock.com and type "*Art Inquiry" in the "Subject" line...
If inquiring about art -- Please indicate the title of your interest and if you're interested in a print (giclee) or if you'd like an original. Cost is more for an original, depending on size desired. All sizes are negotiable unless otherwise stated. All prints currently available are giclee, hand numbered and signed in pencil by me (the artist, Shirley). The originals are also hand signed in pencil. I also do custom orders. I am very versatile with medium and technique. If you can think it, I can draw it and am willing to work it until the finished product is what you envisioned. I am experienced with company logos, I can work with one you already have if you need a four color overlay done for use in advertising and for company logo embroidery for promotional items or personnel. Maybe you just feel your logo is outdated and needs some new life put into it, or I can present something completely new and innovative to you. I've designed program covers and covers for published literary compilations. I can produce what you want. I've had customers come to me with an idea of what they want, I put it on paper and they see their idea materialize. I once had someone ask me to draw a portrait of their mother, who was overseas, he wanted her drawn younger than her present years and with different clothes and accessories than what was in the 2"x3" black and white picture he gave me to work with , yes...he wanted her in color. That completed portrait was done with oil pastels on an 16"x24" Grumbacher Watercolor Paper. If you can think it, I can draw it. I set it up so you can just click on any picture on this blog and use that email form to contact me but when I tried to do that...it didn't function correctly....go figure...I'll have to analyze that to see what I did wrong...haven't tried it in about a year, so you can try if you like or (let me repeat myself here) email me at shirley_is@rock.com ------don't forget to put *Art Inquiry* on the Subject line.. Remember, the sizes I have listed are the size of the actual print...if you want a framed finished piece the finished size may be anywhere from 4" - 8" larger (in H and W) than print...depending on matt and/or frame desired or required.
No shipping and handling fees for all purchases of prints sized 8"x10" or less. ,or try clicking on the title of the piece or image of which you're interested, in the subject line please type *ART INQUIRY*. Don't forget to include any pertinent information in the email:
  • title of the piece you're interested in
  • print or original
  • default or custom size
  • your mailing address (if I'll need it)
  • your email address
  • your name and shipping address

Golden Words ~ Understanding Women

I continually receive emails that have golden words of wisdom and I can't think of anything better than to share them with you so my cup doesn't get too full and block these resources from having a place to rest to continue their endless works of passing on some food for thought and hopefully wisdom to help:

The Wisdom of Man Trying to Understand Woman

9 Words that Women Use and What They REALLY Mean

1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument and you need to shut up.

2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end with fine.

4. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5. Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome.

8. Whatever: is a woman's way of saying F__You.

9. Don't Worry About It, I Got It: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response, refer to #3.

If men could remember this terminology, it could save them many arguments.

(By the way, this email was sent by a man...thank you Kenny!) :)

Golden Words ~ Sharing Words

Sharing Words of Wisdom
I wondered why somebody didn't do something . . .

then I realized I was somebody.

I continually receive emails that have golden words of wisdom and I can't think of anything better than to share them with you so my cup doesn't get too full and block these resources from having a place to rest to continue their endless works of passing on some food for thought and hopefully wisdom to help:
"Be very careful if you make a woman cry, because God counts her tears. The woman came out of a man's rib, not from his feet to be walked on, not from his head to be superior, but from his side to be equal! Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved." Quoted from a post on facebook 1/12/2010
"Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom. " - Samuel Taylor Coleridge

"Faith has to do with things that are not seen and hope with things that are not at hand." - Saint Thomas Aquinas

"He who hesitates ~ is poor." - Mel Brooks

It was discovered, from a documented, extensive study of longevity, that 90% of the most cheerful quarter of participating subjects were alive at age eighty-five versus only 34% of the least cheerful quarter . . . moral?. . . Don't Worry, Be Happy! A (ITEM OF INTEREST: By the way, it also noted. . . psychology has badly neglected the positive side of life, for every one hundred journal articles on sadness, there is just one on happiness.)

"Positive emotion alienated from the exercise of character leads to emptiness, to inauthenticity, to depression, and, as we age, to the gnawing realization that we are fidgeting until we die."

"Never give up
Develop the heart
Too much energy in your country is spent
Developing the mind instead of the heart.
Be compassionate not just to your friends but to everyone
Be compassionate.
Work for peace in your heart and in the world.
Work for peace and I say again
Never give up.
No matter what is happening,
No matter what is going on around you,
Never give up."
